Garrett Scholarship
GYES (Garrett Youth Education Scholarship)
The Garrett Youth Education Scholarship is an important opportunity for our young members to gain assistance at further education in their chosen field.
Establishment
The Charolais Society has been blessed with the legacy of the late Dr Joe Garrett with the establishment of the Garrett Youth Education Scholarship.
‘Joe’ was the Executive Director of the American International Charolais Association for many years and thoroughly enjoyed his frequent trips down under.
His passion for the beef industry and his vision for the future led him, with wife Carolynne, to establish the scholarship to assist young breeders and enthusiasts by alleviating some of the financial obstacles of further education.
Call for Applications
Each year the Council of the Charolais Society of Australia issue a call for applications from interested people who are willing to undergo further studies for their career development.
In September / October each year, this call for applications will occur. Council assess applications during November and notify applicants in December (for the commencement of the new years study).
Contributions
The establishment of the Scholarship Fund has been assisted by the generosity of members. Members are able to assist by donating money or cattle into the fund. The donation of money is tax deductable.
Donating cattle is conducted by setting aside an animal, or their progeny, from which the proceeds are forwarded to the Garrett Scholarship Fund when sold.
For more information on contributing to the Garrett Education Scholarship Fund, please contact the Executive Officer.
