• Heifer tops Southern Breeders Sale

    A show potential heifer Waterford Mooki topped the 16th Annual Southern Charolais Breeders Sale at Yea on the 7th March. The heifer was offered by Deborah and Sapphire Halliday  and was purchased by Ron Johnstone, Milford Charolais, Beaudesert Queensland. The heifer was sired by Palgrove Hermes and was offered with a balanced set of EBVs. Top price bull was Chenu Maximus offered by Rebecca Keeley and Colin Pickering. This sire weighed in at 888kg and was purchased by Ros Turner, Spring Hill, Kyneton for $7,000. Overall 20 bulls sold from 44 offered to average $4,400. Three cows and calves sold from seven offered to top at $5000 and average $4230. Six heifers sold from 10 offered to $10,000 and average $4350.
